Arranging marriage or registered partnership
Wageningen is a beautiful location to get married or enter into a registered partnership. It is important that you notify us at least two weeks in advance. We recommend that you do so six weeks in advance to allow time for preparations. There are 3 ways to do this:
1. Book a date online You can book a date, time and location using the button below. When you book a date online, you automatically register your marriage or registered partnership. You do not need to report this separately. You will both need a DigiD for this.
Were you born abroad or have you lived there? In that case, you will often need additional documents with your application. Please contact us by telephone on (0317) 49 29 11 well in advance of your wedding or partnership date.

Free marriage or partnership
On Wednesday mornings at 9.00 or 10.00 hrs, you can get married or enter into a partnership registration free of charge. A free wedding or partnership has a simple ceremony. The ceremony lasts a maximum of 10 minutes and only consists of the formal part. Therefore, there is no speech. The ceremony takes place in a small room and is only for the bride and groom and their witnesses. At least one of the partners must be from Wageningen. Reservations can be made up to 3 months in advance.
Simple marriage/partnership
On Wednesday morning at 9.00 or 10.00 hrs, you can get married or enter into a partnership registration simply. This is an inexpensive way to get married or arrange a partnership. The ceremony takes place in the wedding hall and is for the bride and groom and a maximum of 13 guests. There is a short speech.
You can get married in the city hall of Wageningen. But also at the locations below. You have to arrange this yourself with the owner of the location.
Not if you choose a free or simple marriage or partnership. In all other cases, yes.
Sometimes the country or place where you want to get married asks for a declaration of marital competence. This document states that you are not currently married and are allowed to marry each other under Dutch law.
