European Parliament elections

The European Parliament elections will be held on Thursday, 6 June. The municipality of Wageningen is setting up a Municipal Polling Station (Gemeentelijk Stembureau, GSB) for these elections.

The GSB will check the official reports at a public session. These official reports will be drawn up after the votes from the elections on 6 June 2024 have been counted. The GSB session will be opened again on Monday, 10 June once all the EU ballot boxes have been closed. The official report will then be adopted, and we will announce the result on this website.

On polling night, the polling stations will count the votes by list. The GSB will count all the votes by list and by candidate on 7 June. This way of counting will be public.

The GSB will meet at the City Hall (Markt 22) on Friday, 7 June and Monday, 10 June from 9.30am. This session will be open to the public. Would you like to attend? If so, report to the information desk at the city hall on these days.

You may vote if you meet the following requirements:

• You were registered in the personal records database (Basisregistratie Personen, BRP) on 23 April 2024
• You are eligible to vote
• You are a Dutch national or
• You are a national of another EU Member State and have indicated that you wish to vote in the Netherlands.
• Not sure if you can vote in these elections? Check whether you meet all the conditions(Externe link) set by the Government of the Netherlands.

You can authorise someone to vote for you. This means that someone else may cast your vote. This will require you to authorise that person.

Back of voting pass

On the back of your voting pass, enter the name of the person who will vote for you. That is the person you are authorising. This authorised person can be anyone who lives in Wageningen and has received a voting pass. You must give the completed voting pass and a photo or a copy of your ID to the person who will vote for you. You can authorise someone in this way up to and including the day of the elections. A person can receive a maximum of 2 proxies.

If you cannot or do not want to vote in the municipality of Wageningen, you can apply for a voter’s pass (kiezerspas). A voter’s pass will enable you to vote anywhere in the Netherlands. You can do this up to midday on Wednesday, 5 June 2024. There is no need to make an appointment. Bring your valid ID with you.

If you have still not received a voting pass by Friday, 24 May 2024, you can apply for a replacement voting pass.

The Municipal Executive has decided to count the votes in the European Parliament elections on 6 June 2024 centrally in a process also known as central counting.

This means that only the votes per party will be counted for each polling station on election day. On Friday, 7 June and Monday, 10 June, all the votes will be counted once more by list and by candidate. That count will take place in a public session of the Municipal Polling Station. This will be held in the council chamber of Wageningen City Hall at Markt 22.
