Bulky waste

Bulky waste includes large quantities of waste, furniture, construction waste, metals and consumer goods such as refrigerators and televisions. You can take bulky waste to the waste collection station. You need a waste disposal pass to visit the station.

Waste collection station

The Wageningen waste collection station (dutch: Afvalbrengstation) is located on the industrial estate at Nudepark 77. Residents may deposit a maximum of 1.5 mwaste per visit. There is no limitation to how many times you can bring bulky waste to the station. You can also dispose of cooking fat, glass sheets, textiles, household chemical waste and asbestos (see below). The station manager will be pleased to advise you with regard to what type of waste belongs in which container.
You can borrow a delivery bicycle or trailer free of charge and deposit your bulk waste at the wast collection station.

Opening hours of the waste collection station:

Monday: 12:00 - 20:00 hrs
Tuesday to Friday: 08:00 - 16:00 hrs
Saturday: 9:00 - 16:00 hrs

The waste collection station is intended exclusively for use by residents of Wageningen, and therefore not for companies, organisations and institutions.

A broken sofa, old mattress, roll of carpet or other types of bulky waste that do not fit in the normal-sized waste containers and cannot be recycled, may be left for collection. A maximum of 1 m3 for unsorted waste, 3 mfor garden waste and 1.5 m3 for metals/large electrical equipment  applies. For unsorted waste, the costs are € 15. Large electrical equipment/metals and garden waste are free of charge.

The collection service works by appointment: call 0318-648 160. Keep your waste disposal pass handy as you will need it for the pass number. Place the bulky waste items outside your house on the public road on collection day between 6 and 7.30 am. Please tie or bundle loose items of waste. Rubble, stones, porcelain and asbestos will not be collected. You must take this type of waste to the waste collection station yourself.

Usable household goods

You can take usable household goods to second-hand shop Emmaus (Heerenstraat 9) or to the Emmaus container at the waste collection station. The goods will be sorted and, if possible, resold. Emmaus is closed at the moment, because of corona. The revenues from the sale of second-hand goods are spent by Emmaus on charitable projects. Emmaus will collect large items that may be useful to other people. The collection service works by appointment, call 0317-422140.

Caution is required when disposing of asbestos. Asbestos must be well-wrapped when deposited. Packaging may consist of asbestos disposal bags or other thick plastic sheeting such as agricultural plastic. If using thick plastic sheeting, this must be double wrapped and subsequently sealed with tape. Thick plastic sheeting can be purchased at home improvement centres and DIY stores. It is advisable to package asbestos in manageable-sized packages as you must deposit the asbestos in the container yourself. In order to prevent regular exposure to asbestos, the waste collection station staff may not assist you with asbestos disposal. Before removing asbestos in the home, please contact the license team (Team Vergunningen) on 0317-49 27 00.
