The Binnenstadswinkel is going to move

This summer the Binnenstadswinkel will move from Hoogstraat 15 to its new location at Hoogstraat 60, the building that was once Stolk’s bakery and, at a later date, the cake shop. Once again, an empty building is going to be put to new use. Alderman Dennis Gudden: “Our current location is going to become part of Brownies & Downies when they expand. I’m happy that we were able to find a new suitable location so soon. Our new building is centrally located in downtown Wageningen, and I hope to meet a lot of people there during my weekly office hour on Wednesdays.”

The Binnenstadswinkel is the physical heart of the programme entitled ‘Aan de slag met de Binnenstad’ in which residents, business owners, students and the municipality work together on initiatives for making and keeping the city centre lively and attractive. Since June 2015 the programme has been using an empty shop building for numerous activities, meetings and initiative development. In the past few years more than 20 local organisations have used the ‘Ruimte voor de Binnenstad’ for theatre, an exhibition, a pop-up restaurant, a radio studio, study space, handicrafts, presentations and, of course, meetings and inspiration. New initiatives are always welcome.

The festive reopening of the Binnenstadswinkel ‘Ruimte voor de binnenstad’ will be on Wednesday morning 4 September at the new location, Hoogstraat 60. The opening will be held during the weekly office hour of alderman Gudden. He’ll be in the Binnenstadswinkel every Wednesday from van 11.00-12.00 to talk about plans for the city centre. No appointment is needed. There are also consulting hours on Friday afternoons between 14.30-17.00; a project staff member will then be present.

Please note: In connection with the summer holidays, the Binnenstadswinkel is closed from Wednesday 24 July to Wednesday 4 September.
